Most discomforts of pregnancy are a "given", caused by poor posture resulting from the extended abdomen. The strained muscles and laxity of connective tissue in many joints are all to facilitate birth and should not be interfered with.
Every detail of the Jeunique® Natal Support has an essential purpose for ensuring the success and validation of its unique patent.
The design is a simple panty-style garment, but there is an important distinction from most pregnancy devices. The Jeunique® Natal Support encases the whole torso. It has an extra two-ply triangular piece attached to the top of the crotch in front by the middle point, leaving the two ends of the triangle to be attached by velcro patches at the back side.
This makes a sling-like cradle that lifts and distributes the weight around the body. The fetus rests in its normal place without restraint. The back tabs make a firm anchor at the strongest part of the body and can easily be adjusted for comfort as the many changes occur. This contributes to alleviating back pains and gives the mom-to-be a greater feeling of energy and well-being.
The engineering is done in a soft interlock knit fabric composed of a blend of fibers:
Cotton for absorbency and softness
Polyester for strength, long wear and quick drying
Lycra to hug the body and provide extra stretch so that one size can fit for the full term of normal pregnance according to pre-pregnancy size.
Stretch is obtained and controlled in several ways:
The knit stretches more than a woven fabric.
There is more stretch in one direction than another.
The lycra adds more stretch and control depending on the way it is used.
All of these conditions are used to our advantage because we need to provide for expansion without restraint yet give a feeling of security and a slight lift to counteract the strain of gravity. Although other appliances may give a lift and seem to help at first, the strap under the belly that most of them have can cause the abdomen to protrude even more over the band and thereby cause the body to be more out of line. The unbalance could lead to a dangerous fall.
